On 20–21 May 2026, MGFÜ welcomed two major events of the Horizon Europe-funded CircSyst project, hosted by MGFÜ and its partners. The events aimed to support the development, exchange and wider replication of circular economy solutions, with a particular focus on sustainable packaging and food packaging systems.
The first day brought together project partners at Corvinus University of Budapest for the 4th General Assembly and Common Co-Creation Workshop. During the meeting, work package leaders presented progress achieved so far, while participants discussed upcoming activities and explored opportunities to maximise the impact and transferability of the project’s demonstration actions.

The second day focused on packaging-related demonstrators through the 2nd Replication Workshop, organised at Breier Farm facilitated by the involvement of Ugrinpack. Participants were introduced to several international demonstration cases covering recyclable food packaging solutions, citizen-engagement approaches for packaging waste collection, and eco-design methodologies aimed at reducing non-recyclable materials.

A key component of the workshop was the interactive discussion session, where participants explored how successful circular solutions can be transferred and adapted to different regional contexts. The discussions focused on transferable elements, adaptation needs, context-specific barriers and opportunities that influence the successful replication of circular innovations.
The programme concluded with a site visit to Ugrinpack’s facilities in Leányvár. Participants gained first-hand insights into innovative eco-designed packaging solutions, bio-based materials, mycelium-based applications and practical approaches to material and waste tracking within circular packaging systems.

The CircSyst project aims to develop and accelerate systemic circular solutions across the plastics, packaging, bio-waste and water sectors. The events held in Budapest represented an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation capacity among project partners and stakeholders working towards a more circular economy.
