The EUR-IS project has been developed by International Synergies, Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+, IFKA and TU Delft.
The aim of the EUR-IS pathfinder project is to demonstrate the practical role that industrial symbiosis programmes can play as a platform for low carbon innovation that can be rolled out across the whole of the Europe Union. The EUR-IS project will undertake a first, incremental step towards this goal by developing new industrial symbiosis innovation platforms in Lower Silesia, Central Hungary and the Midlands. The Netherlands CLC (via TU Delft) will transfer knowledge between the three regions through the participation of post-graduate scholars engaging with project activities in each region. The three regions of Lower Silesia, Central Hungary and Midlands have been identified as the loci for this project due to their diverse regional economies and therefore enhance the project’s ability to be replicated at scale across other European regions. Once this ‘pathfinder’ project has been completed the next step should be to roll out the lessons learned to other RIC and CLC locations and create the conditions for wider deployment across the EU.
